CNC Vertical Machining
CNC vertical machining is a machining technique using computer numerical control (CNC) systems. In this method, the workpiece is fixed on a stationary table and the cutting tool follows a specific path to remove or shape the material on the workpiece. The basic steps of the process include:
1. Fixing the Workpiece: The workpiece is firmly fixed on the working table of the vertical machining machine. This ensures that the workpiece is held in an accurate position and provides stability during machining.
2. CNC Control System Programming: The machining process is programmed through a computer-controlled CNC system. This program determines the movement of the cutting tool and the machining parameters.
3. Selection of Cutting Tool: Depending on the material and processing requirements of the workpiece, the appropriate cutting tool is selected. This tool is used for cutting, drilling or shaping material.
4. Machining Movement: The CNC-controlled cutting tool moves on the workpiece on the specified path. The movement of the cutting tool occurs via specific coordinates and paths determined by the machining program.
5. Cooling and Chip Removal: During machining, the cutting tool usually gets hot while shaping the workpiece. Therefore, cooling systems can be used. Additionally, a chip conveyor or similar systems can be used to remove chips formed during processing.
CNC vertical machining is a technology commonly used in mass production and the production of special parts. This method is preferred in industrial production due to its ability to produce precise workpieces, repeatability and automation advantages.
